Your first day in Recoatly
What is already set up in a new account, and the few things to do first so you can send your first estimate today.
Updated
When you create your company, Recoatly sets up the basics for your trade so you can start working straight away. Here's what's already there, and what to do first.
What's already set up
- A starter price book for the trade you chose at sign-up, with typical services and starting prices. They're examples, not advice — change them to what you actually charge before you send estimates.
- Settings for your country: currency, date format, measurement units and the name of your tax (for example Sales tax, GST or VAT).
- A tax rate of 0%. Only you know whether you're registered to charge tax and at what rate, so you set it yourself. See Set up your company details, tax and branding.
- Ready-written automations for estimate follow-ups, appointment reminders, review requests and overdue invoices. The ones that email your customers start switched off, so nothing goes out in your name until you've read the wording and turned it on.
- The basics: common lead sources, a few customer tags, a crew called Crew A, an inspection checklist, a website enquiry form and a service agreement template.
Do these first
- Confirm your email address. Open the email Recoatly sent when you signed up and click the link. Recoatly doesn't send anything to your customers until an owner or administrator has confirmed their email.
- Go to Settings → Company and add your business address, phone, email and tax rate.
- Upload your logo in Settings → Documents & branding.
- Open Price book and change the starter prices to your own.
- Add a customer, or import your customer list.
- Try an estimate on yourself: add yourself as a customer, then create and send an estimate so you see exactly what your customers will see. Open the email on your phone or in a private browser window — that article explains why.
- Invite the people you work with from Team. There's no charge per person.
- Read the wording in Automations and switch on the follow-ups you want. See Turn on automatic follow-ups and reminders.
Good to know
- The Getting set up panel on your dashboard tracks your progress. Each step ticks itself off when Recoatly sees you've done it, and Hide this tucks the panel away.
- Your free trial lasts 30 days and doesn't need a card. See Your plan and free trial.
- New to the screens? Take the quick tour in Find your way around Recoatly.
