Keep your account secure
Change or reset your password, sign out devices you no longer use, give people only the access they need and check the audit log.
Updated
A few habits keep your company's information safe: a strong password for everyone, the right role for each person, and a look at the audit log now and then.
Change your password
- Click your name at the bottom of the menu and choose My profile.
- Enter your current password and a new one of at least 8 characters, and save it.
Changing your password signs you out on every other device.
Forgot your password?
- On the sign-in page, choose to reset your password and enter your email address.
- Open the email from Recoatly and click Choose a new password. The link works once, for one hour.
- Choose your new password. You're signed in, and signed out everywhere else.
Sign out a lost or shared device
My profile lists your active sessions — every device you're signed in on. Click Revoke next to any you don't recognize or no longer use.
Give people only what they need
- Each person's role decides what they see. Technicians don't see invoices or payments, and only people allowed to see financial figures see costs and pay rates. See Invite your team and set their roles.
- When someone leaves, remove their access straight away: open them on the Team page, click Edit, then Remove.
Check the audit log
Settings → Audit log lists important actions — sign-ins, exports, settings changes, estimates and invoices sent, team changes — with who did it, when and from which IP address. Owners, administrators, bookkeepers and read-only users can see it.
Good to know
- After 10 wrong passwords in 15 minutes, Recoatly pauses sign-in for that account for 15 minutes. Reset your password if you're locked out.
- If you change the email address you sign in with, Recoatly asks you to confirm the new address and lets the old one know.
- Card payments go through Stripe. Recoatly never sees or stores card numbers.
