Accept card payments online
Connect your own Stripe account so customers can pay invoices and deposits online from the link you send them.
Updated
Recoatly takes online payments through Stripe, using your own Stripe account. Your customer pays on Stripe's secure checkout page, and the money goes to your Stripe account and then to your bank. Recoatly never sees or stores card numbers.
Connect Stripe
- Go to Settings → Payments and click Connect with Stripe.
- Stripe asks for your business details and the bank account you want payouts sent to. Follow the steps on Stripe's pages.
- When you finish, Stripe sends you back to Recoatly. As soon as Stripe has checked your details, you're ready to take payments.
From then on, every invoice that allows online payment shows your customer a Pay button, and the button in your invoice emails lets them view and pay in one go.
What your customer sees
- They open the invoice from your email, or from their customer portal, and choose to pay.
- If you allow tips on that invoice, they can add one for the crew.
- They pay on Stripe's checkout page. The payment appears on the invoice and on your Payments page as soon as Stripe confirms it.
Good to know
- Deposit invoices from approved estimates can be paid online the same way.
- Stripe charges its processing fee on each payment and pays out to your bank on its normal schedule. You manage payouts in your own Stripe account. Any fee Recoatly adds on top is shown on the Pricing page.
- To turn off online payment for one invoice, edit it and untick Allow online payment under Payment options.
- Until you connect Stripe, invoices have no pay button. Customers pay you another way, and you record the payment yourself — see Record payments and set up recurring billing.
- Only owners and administrators can connect Stripe.
